CUPE Job Action Update - Oct 4th.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) provided notice that they will be starting a full withdrawal of all services across the province on Monday, October 7, 2019. This is not a Teacher strike. CUPE members include education assistants, custodians, office, clerical and technical staff.
Trillium Lakelands District School Board has carefully assessed the potential impact on school operations and determined that all TLDSB schools (including VLC and Open School) will be closed to students starting Monday, October 7, 2019 until the end of the CUPE full withdrawal of services. This includes all elementary, secondary, and adult and alternate education centres.
Important notes for parents and guardians:
There will be no live lessons or open office sessions for the duration of the CUPE full withdrawal of services.
No new learning modules will be released.
Assignment due dates will be adjusted when schools re-open.Teachers will respond to emails when schools re-open.
Check the VLC website for updates to the situation prior to Monday morning. If no updates are posted, consider the VLC closed.
We understand that this can be very frustrating for families and hope that a provincial agreement with CUPE will be reached very soon. Updates will be provided on the VLC website as soon as they become available. To find out the status of labour action in Trillium Lakelands District School Board
