National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day was celebrated on June 21st.  It is important that we all acknowledge the importance of Indigenous People in Canadian society and take a role in the process of reconciliation.

June 21st was chosen to be National Indigenous Peoples Day because of the cultural significance of the summer solstice - the rebirth of Mother Earth - and because many Indigenous Peoples communities mark this day as a time to celebrate their heritage.
