World Mental Health Day
The United Nation's World Health Organization (W.H.O.) observes World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.
This year the W.H.O. has published an article on Youth mental health which you mind find interesting reading.
CAMH (Canadian Association for Mental Health) is continuing with their Mental Health is Health campaign as well. The following is directly from their website:
1 in 5 Canadians Experience Mental Illness in Any Given Year. We All Know Someone.
And yet, one of the biggest issues in our health care system – and society at large – is that mental health is not taken as seriously, and treated as urgently, as physical health. But when you hear the stories, and see the impact mental illness has on the lives of so many around us, it's hard to stand idly by. Together, we can and must change the way mental health is treated not just in Canada, but around the world. We invite you all to join the movement.
