December Update

Winter Break

The school and office will be closed from December 20th to December 31st for winter break. During this time students will not have live classes or Open Office times and our office will be closed. If you call or email, messages will not be picked up until the week of January 3rd.

Final Test and Exams

Grade 9 final tests run prior to the start of final exams. Exams for grades 10-12 will run from January 26th to February 2nd. Students have already been emailed a copy of their exam schedules. If you have misplaced this email, students can log in to their Student Profile from our main website to see a copy of their schedule.

As stated before we will be using Proctorio for our final tests and exams and students will be required to have a webcam and microphone. For more information on Proctorio, please visit our website https://virtuallearning.ca/frequently-asked-questions-old/what-is-proctorio/

Semester 2 Startup

Second semester is coming up fast and we thought this would be a good time to share some changes we are making this semester.

Students will be loaded into courses and provided a copy of their timetable on Friday, February 4th. On the 4th students will be able to see the Student Guide and begin working through the content in this Guide. They will not be able to access their courses yet.

On Monday, February 7th at 7:30 am students will be able to access all of their courses. We will begin classes on Monday, February 7th so students who are scheduled for Monday classes should be prepared to log in at the scheduled time.

Progress Report Week

Teachers will be sending out progress reports the week of December 13th to the 17th for any students whose credit is currently in jeopardy. This report will be emailed to parents as well if under 18. These reports do not go to all students. If you would like to check your mark in your course please click the grades section of your Canvas course.

Some students may need to use the winter break to get caught up on work. Students should contact their teachers prior to Thursday, December 16th if they need to have assignments reopened. Students need to remember that the teaching staff will not be available over the winter break.

Clothing

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with EntripyShops to create an online clothing store for the Virtual Learning Center. Students and families are able to visit our school store to purchase VLC branded clothing. The company ships directly to your home from their Ontario location.

Please note that EntripyShops is a third-party retailer and VLC is not responsible for any orders placed. To visit the VLC store please go to https://virtuallearning.entripyshops.com/ this link can also be found on our website and in the Student Guide.
