Start up – September 3

New and returning students are only able to access their Student Profile right now, not the Canvas platform.  You can login into your Profile on the main website using your login credentials (your username: TL then your first initial, last name and three numbers; and your password: students created their own passwords after they registered). You can access your Student Profile to review your course selections/semester timetable or to access your Student Notes.

Students will have access to our learning management system, Canvas, by 12 pm (noon) on August 30th  At this point you will be able to click the login button on our website. Once students are loaded into the course, their login credentials will be emailed to the address you registered to our program with (please remember to check your junk mail in case the login instructions go there). At that time students will be able to login and review our Student Guide. We ask that all students new and returning review the Student Guide for important information about our program.

All students are required to complete the academic dishonesty module in the Student Guide on Tuesday, September 3rd. Students are encouraged to visit the Student Guide weekly during the school year as this is where important announcements are shared. We encourage students to familiarize themselves with their VLC Gmail account as well. Instructions for accessing their VLC Gmail account can be found in the Student Guide modules.

Students will have access to courses starting Tuesday, September 3rd at 7am.  All student’s courses will appear on their Canvas dashboard. Timetable information (when your live meeting times are scheduled) will be emailed out on or before the afternoon of August 30th  by 4 pm.  Your live meeting times will also be posted on the homepage of each of your courses. Live classes will start on September 4th

We have received many emails over the summer regarding course changes. As per the email sent on June 19th, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to make changes as courses are full.  Students will be notified via email if we are able to process requests by Monday, September 9th.

There will be several meetings held throughout the first week of school by our Guidance Counsellor/Student Services teacher, Ms. Marshall, welcoming new students and helping them navigate their way through our program.

Students can attend one of the following meetings:

  • Wednesday, August 28 10 am
  • Wednesday, August 28 1 pm
  • Tuesday, September 3 10 am
  • Tuesday, September 3 1 pm

Student were emailed this message with the link to sign up.

These meetings are optional but recommended. If students cannot make one of these meeting times then they can watch the recording that will be posted in the Student Guide announcements next week.

There will also be a 30 minute drop-in session on Friday, September 6th at 11:15 am where students can ask general questions about the program.

Please note: these meetings are only for students, not parents.  Parents can watch the meeting with their child but we ask that only the students interact with those in attendance.

Information about times, how to access the meeting, along with other important start-up details, will be posted in the Student Guide announcements.  Please be sure to read the Welcome! From Student Services announcement.

Please monitor emails and the website for more information.
