Winter Holiday Office Closure

The VLC office will be closed for the winter holidays from 4 pm on Friday, December 20th, 2019.  The office will re-open on Monday, January 6th, 2020 at 8:30 am.

OSSLT Date

EQAO has announced the OSSLT will be written on Tuesday, March 31st in the morning.  More details will be posted after the winter break.

Semester 2 Registration - Late Application Date

Registration opened for Semester 2 on October 25th, 2019. New applications and support documentation received after December 13th, 2019 are considered late. Any applicants who have previously applied that have not submitting support documentation are also considered late.

Last Day for Submitting Late Work

January 17th,  2019 at 11:59 p.m. is the deadline for all late and outstanding work for Semester 1.  

Exam Information

VLC exams run from January 24th-29th.  Students should submit proctor information to teachers as soon as possible.  Please check course home pages dates and times.  See student guide module for more information.

Teachers' Strike Confirmed Today

All Trillium Lakelands DSB secondary schools Including VLC are closed today, Wednesday December 11th, 2019, due to a legal, one day strike.

Potential 1 Day Teacher Strike Tomorrow

At this time there is not an agreement between the province and OSSTF. The bargaining teams have until midnight tonight for an agreement to be reached. If there is not an agreement TLDSB secondary schools including VLC will be closed to students tomorrow Wednesday, December 11, 2019.  This will be a one day only strike.  Updates will be posted as they become available.

Secondary Teachers Strike Confirmed

All secondary school teachers in Trillium Lakelands DSB will be holding a legal one day strike today, Wednesday, Dec 4th, 2019.  VLC will be closed today.  Classes will resume tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th, 2019

OSSTF Strike Update

At this time there is not an agreement between the province and the Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers Federation. The bargaining teams have until midnight tonight for an agreement to be reached. If there is not an agreement, all Trillium Lakelands secondary schools (including VLC) will be closed to students tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4, 2019.  This will be a ONE DAY strike only.  Teachers will resume duties on Thursday, December 5th, 2019.

A message will be posted on the VLC website if an agreement is reached and the strike is cancelled.

Full Disclosure Reminder

Students in senior courses (grade 11/12) have until NOV 25TH, 2019 at 11:59 pm to withdraw from a course without the course showing on a transcript. 

Full disclosure does not apply to students in Grades 9 or 10 courses.

Nov 29th TLDSB Instructional Holiday

As per the Trillium Lakelands DSB school year calendar, Friday Nov 29th is an instructional holiday.  No classes will be held and educator staff will not be available.  Classes resume on Monday, December 2nd, 2019.

Mid-term Reports and Full Disclosure Reminder

Mid-term report cards are being mailed out from the office today. Please allow 5-7 days for delivery.

Please Note:  CHV2O (Civics) grades will not appear on mid-term reports as they are final grades.  They will appear on Final Report Cards at the end of semester.

Week of Kindness at VLC

November 18-22 is a Week of Kindness at the VLC and in Trillium Lakelands DSB.

Kindness Idea 1: Give the Gift of Books

Do you have some books collecting dust on a shelf? Why not pack them up and take them to the local library, school, hospital or seniors' residence? Many local organizations can often use the books in their current circulation or sell them during a "Book Sale" to raise money.

Previously Used Gmail Virtuallearningapps Services

As per Student Guide announcements of September 3rd, 12th and 16th,  the VLC's @virtuallearningapps.ca Google domain has been discontinued.  Students should be using @virtuallearning.ca for all VLC Google services now.

@virtuallearningapps.ca services will not be accessible after 12:00 pm Friday, Nov 15th, 2019.

Treaties Recognition Week

In the fall of 2016, the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR) dedicated the first week of November as Treaties Recognition Week. The goal of the week is to promote public education and awareness about treaties, land claim agreements and contemporary treaty relationships in Canada.
