Can I take a course without having the prerequisite course?

Typically, no. However, where possible, we want students to be in an “age appropriate” placement.  Students can provide a detailed description of the academic work they completed outside of an Ontario secondary school context when registering (in the Home School synopsis section of the application).  Students can also upload the course description and details in a document after they complete their registration.

Once the documents are reviewed, the Principal, at his or her discretion, may grant entry into the course without formal completion of the prerequisite course.  If further information is required, students will be notified via email.

Please see the FAQ: Home School Synopsis, and Do credits from other schools and programs count toward my diploma? (Equivalency) for further details.
